Jarmen starts building the skate park – young people get involved!
The construction of the new skate park in Jarmen, in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district, has officially begun. Children and young people from the city actively participated in the planning, and their ideas flow directly into the design of the park. A specialist from Neubrandenburg manufactured the necessary components; some of them are already ready to be assembled in Jarmen. And the best thing: The people of Jarmen are not just spectators, but will also lend a hand on September 26th to help build the tracks. Mayor André Werner appeals to parents, children and young people to get actively involved and to develop a sense of responsibility for their new skating area. This not only promotes a sense of community, but also ensures identification with the project. The ceremonial opening is scheduled to take place on October 3rd.
The total cost of the skate park is around 70,000 euros. Most of the funds come from donations, including from the punk band “Feinecreme Fischfilet” and their singer Monchi, who has his roots in Jarmen. The financing for the construction of the skate rink is available, and the anticipation in the city is growing every day. According to a report from tagesschau.de, the entire construction of the modules, which are made of wood, will take place after the “Wasted in Jarmen” festival at the beginning of September. Under professional guidance, participants are expected to put the structure together, creating a place where they can not only skate, but also form an essential part of the community.
A place for movement and diversity
A variety of activities will be possible on the Jarmen sports field in the future. In addition to traditional football, the new facilities offer space for skateboarding - a trend that has grown enormously in popularity in recent years. This type of leisure activity is particularly popular among young people and offers a great opportunity to get active. In addition, the creation of such facilities is part of a larger plan to improve the infrastructure for extreme sports across the country, which will already allocate PLN 30 million in 2025.
The plan is to build up to 50 new skate parks in various locations to improve accessibility to these sports. This type of initiative not only ensures more sporting opportunities, but also contributes to the attractiveness of the respective region. This is also intended to ensure that alternative uses for the facilities are available not only in the summer months, but also in the winter.
The skate park in Jarmen will not only be a new hotspot for local youth, but also a step in the right direction to make the sports landscape in the region sustainable. It remains to be hoped that the attractiveness of such offers will continue to increase and that more young people will be motivated to take up sport.
