New nursing school in Greifswald: 975 places for aspiring skilled workers!
In the heart of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, a new nursing school is being built in Greifswald, which is intended to bring a breath of fresh air into the health professions. The need for qualified specialists is high, as Science Minister Bettina Martin (SPD) emphasizes. With an investment volume of almost 45 million euros, the state government is digging deep into its pockets to support training in this important area. According to Bibliomed Pflege, financing is ensured through funds from the federal government's special infrastructure fund, which provides a total of 1.92 billion euros for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. So there's a lot going on!
The new nursing school will be built in the immediate vicinity of the Greifswald University Medical Center and will offer a new learning forum with a total of 975 training and study places. The planned division provides for 675 places to be created for various health professions such as dietitians, speech therapists and nurses. There are also 150 places for further training and further education as well as a further 150 study places in clinical nursing science. The decision on the exact location is expected to be made this year and the public contract award is scheduled for 2026.
A milestone for training
The establishment of the nursing school is an important step in counteracting the shortage of skilled workers in the healthcare industry. Given the increasing demand for nursing staff, it is important to act in a timely manner and prepare future generations for the challenges in the industry. The importance of training cannot be overestimated, as this is where the foundation for high-quality medical care is laid.
This is not only an economic improvement for the Greifswald region, but also a clear signal for young people who want to pursue a career in healthcare. At a time when social issues such as demographic change and the care crisis are becoming louder, this step is more than necessary.
Ecumenical moment in the Vatican
The visit, described as "historic", gave Charles and his wife, Queen Camilla, the opportunity to attend an ecumenical service focused on environmental protection - a cause close to the king's heart. This service was not only a gesture of peace, but also a symbolic step to bridge the centuries-old divides between denominations.
In the context of these significant events, it becomes clear how important education and empowerment are in all areas of life. While the future of the nursing profession is being secured in Greifswald, the visit to Rome shows that the pursuit of unity and shared responsibility remains timeless.
