After a six-month compulsory break, the popular Pizzeria Palermo in Greifswald has opened its doors again. The new location, on Ostrowskistrasse in Schönwalde II, was ceremoniously inaugurated last Wednesday, September 17th and is already attracting old regular customers. How Baltic Sea newspaper reported that the pizzeria's move became necessary after a fire raged in the previous location, the Schönwalde Center, in March.

The fire, which started in a deep fryer, occurred during lunch break. Luckily there were no guests in the restaurant at the time. Immediately after the fire brigade arrived, the deep fryer was fully engulfed in flames, which is why it was evacuated from the building and extinguished outdoors. New concept, proven offers

After 26 years of deciding to move, Pizzeria Palermo is now housed in a former beer hall that has been extensively renovated. The renovation, which took place over two months, modernized both the kitchen and the design of the restaurant. Despite the change of location, the culinary offering remains unchanged and includes pizza, pasta, schnitzel, baguettes and casseroles. The staff also remains the same, which certainly creates a family atmosphere.

The opening of the new pizzeria is already being described as successful as many of the loyal guests have returned. The team is currently focused on deliveries and pickups, but plans to begin offering in-house dining again next year.

Despite the fire, the Pizzeria Palermo remains an integral part of the culinary landscape in Greifswald. There is great anticipation for the coming months, and it looks like the pizzeria will soon attract even more enthusiastic guests.
