Scandal about fire brigade youth: evaluation chaos with the district elimination!

In June 2025, several exciting competitions from the youth fire brigades took place in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. On a first Junisam Day, 15 youth brigades from the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald came together for the district elimination in Ferdinandshof. The participants were highly motivated and mastered challenging tasks, including a fire-fighting attack without water and a 400-meter obstacle. But the joy of the competitions was clouded by evaluation problems: a wrong program caused confusion and led to a subsequent recalculation of the scores. This was admitted to the association of the district youth fire brigades. In the end, the best teams at the negotiating table were determined and not finally on the competition field, as originally planned. Despite the challenges, five teams can look forward to participating in the state competition in July in Tessin.

Another remarkable point is that the second -placed from Medow did not participate due to reasons for time. The youth center of the other teams agreed to only travel to Ticino competition with a team, which shows a high degree of cooperation. FreiTzlaff, the leader of the association, expressed satisfied words about the constructive exchange and announced that they will train the competition judges as well as organizing an information event for the youth center.

Just a week later, on June 22, 2025, in Bad Doberan we went around the district fire brigades. Almost 30 youth fire brigades, including a children's fire brigade segment for the youngest, competed against each other. The best place from this event was the Bützow youth fire brigade, followed by Ziesendorf and Nienhagen, who also qualified for the state competition. Here the participants showed full commitment in the fire -fighting attack with hurdles and a relay race with various stations that asked for a lot of skill. Among the children, the Baltic Sea resort of Nienhagen 2 were the big winners with a children's extinguishing, while a total of around 350 participants created a lively atmosphere.

The competitions in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are part of a larger framework that takes place every two years at the federal level and annually at the state or district level.
