Gym scandal: sexist advertising and donations for firefighters!

In the current discussion about local businesses and their values, the “Well You” fitness studio is in the spotlight. The fitness studio chain is facing massive allegations of advertising that appears to be sexist. Customers have protested loudly on social media, accusing the chain of objectifying women. There was particularly resistance in an Instagram reel that presented offensive images and statements of almost naked women and men. Although the reel has now been removed from the platforms, the controversial advertising campaign remains active, as the Ostsee Zeitung reports.

But it's not just this negative headline that shapes social media in the region. At the same time, a fundraiser is underway for firefighter Robert Müller, who is suffering from cancer and is suffering from an incurable brain tumor. His comrades are actively involved and collecting money to support him and his family. Part of the donations collected will also help to preserve the traditional fire brigade of the Hanseatic city of Greifswald. The community shows once again how important solidarity is in difficult times.

Health advances through back surgery

On the healthcare side, new studies are shedding light on the benefits of spinal surgery in older people. Investigations led by Dr. Robert Fleischmann prove that such interventions not only relieve pain, but also promote mental performance. These findings could have far-reaching consequences for operations on vulnerable patients and show once again how much modern medicine can influence people's lives.

There is also exciting news from the energy industry: From January 2026, the energy supplier Energie Vorpommern will reduce electricity prices by more than 3 cents per kilowatt hour. This adjustment, made possible by cheaper network fees, could bring an average four-person household annual savings of around 120 euros. Welcome news for many households in the region!

New transport connection in Tribsees

Another highlight is the newly built bus station in Tribsees. In just four months of construction and with a budget of around 600,000 euros, a modern transport connection was created, which now includes five bus platforms and offers connections to Rostock, Stralsund and Greifswald. The new infrastructure also includes a lounge for bus drivers and a public toilet. Around 50 departures take place there every day, with plans to expand the offering in the future.

These developments show that there is a lot happening in the region - from critical discussions about business ethics to positive advances in healthcare and infrastructure. The community is called upon to address these issues and find solutions that benefit everyone.
