Radio reception in Rostock disturbed: maintenance work by evening!
Current disorders in radio reception cause confusion and resentment in Rostock and the surrounding area. On July 22, 2025, the reception of several NDR radio stations was significantly affected between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., which particularly affects the listeners in the Rostock region. The reason for the disorder is planned repair work on the transmission system in the Toitenwinkel district. According to [NDR.de] (https://www.ndr.de/nachrichten/mecklenburg-vorpommern/rostock/radio-uncehm-im-grostock-am-di-dierteert, Mvregiorostock-426.html) The broadcasters NDR 1 Radio MV, NDR Kultur, NDR Kultur, NDR INFO and N-Joy for a total of two hours switched off.
The work on the broadcasting location includes, among other things, urgently needed maintenance measures, which meant that the technology had to be switched off for the protection of the technicians for half an hour. This routine maintenance has been necessary since the transmission system was put into operation by Media Broadcast in August 2014 to replace the old mast from 1970 in Marlow. Other networks were also affected, including Deutschlandradio Kultur, Deutschlandfunk and various private VAG programs such as Antenne MV and Baltic Seawelle Hit-Radio Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania reports Ostsee-Zeitung.
range of disorders
The effects of the disorders were regionally noticeable, especially in the east to Marlow and Bad Sülze and in the south to Schwaan. There were also delays in Güstrow and Krakow am See due to the interrupted forwarding of the reception signals. Nevertheless, listeners who have switched to DAB+ can access the digital transmitters at any time and the NDR channels in the live stream remain online at any time.
In an age, where radio reception via FM is still important, it becomes clear how important regular maintenance work is - even if the inconvenience is temporary for the listeners. The technology must be serviced in order to continue to guarantee good reception and to ensure the safety of the technicians, as the network operators of Media Broadcast explain.
Whether for listening to music, for news or simply for entertainment - radio is still an important companion in everyday life for many people. Today, however, shows that technical maintenance is necessary in order to be able to send them smoothly in the future.
