Around 300 motorsport enthusiasts gathered last weekend in the Vorpommern-Rügen district for one of the region's most traditional events: the annual stock car race in Grimmen. The 1st Grimmen Stock Car Legion organized a spectacle under the motto “Mega Race of the North” that attracted both participants and over 2,000 spectators to the stock car arena. This event has become an integral part of the regional motorsport calendar over the last 31 years and attracts drivers from all age groups.
The event offered a varied program with participants from different categories. Young drivers aged twelve and over competed in small buggies, while vehicles with up to 140 hp competed in the Trabant groups and the all-wheel drive class. This year, a very special highlight was the well-known tractor pulling, which took place on Saturday and fascinated spectators with its impressive power transmission. The roots of stock car racing in Grimmen go back to the late 90s. The first biker meeting took place there in 1994 with around 60 machines, followed by a Trabi mud race, which was also a great success with 18 starters.
