Rügen Quiz: Test your knowledge and win great prizes!

Anyone who is interested in the Baltic Sea and would like to test their knowledge about the holiday island of Rügen now has the opportunity to do so. An exciting quiz challenges participants to put their knowledge of the history and sights of the popular island to the test. UntilOctober 30th at 12 p.meveryone can take part. You can win an Amazon voucher worth ten euros, which will be raffled off among all registrations. The winner will be notified after the quiz. Answers to five questions such as the location of the famous Königsstuhl or the Baltic Sea resorts of Zinnowitz, Heringsdorf and Ahlbeck are waiting to be explored. This quiz fun is accompanied weekly by the newsletter “Second Home – Your Post from the Baltic Sea Coast”, which appears on Thursdays and offers lots of additional information about the Baltic Sea.

The quiz is not only a nice way to pass the time, but also an opportunity to get to know the beauty and special features of Rügen better. Ostsee Zeitung reports on the varied questions that bring up particularly interesting photo motifs, such as the pier. This consolidates knowledge about the region in an entertaining way.

Environmental education in the national park

A special highlight of the island is the KÖNIGSSTUHL National Park Center, which is located in the Jasmund National Park. It is supported jointly by WWF Germany and the city of Sassnitz and is committed to environmental education. Great importance is placed here on making complex ecological connections understandable and on promoting a deep responsibility for nature among its visitors. The center's mission statement is “Let nature be nature,” which conveys a respectful attitude toward the environment.

The center offers a variety of offerings: from experiential exhibitions to guided tours to media education formats. The mission aims to preserve the UNESCO world natural heritage of ancient beech forests and enable personal nature experiences. Visitors of all ages are welcome here to experience their aha moments and develop a better understanding of nature. Königsstuhl explains that the programs are scientifically sound and emotionally appealing.

Sustainability on Rügen

Rügen is also committed to sustainability and offers numerous mobility options that are environmentally friendly. The island is home to organic farms and regional producers who stand for fresh and sustainable products. Local environmental initiatives are also involved and offer event tips for activities that are designed to be environmentally conscious. Information and programs about the two national parks and the biosphere reserve, which together make up around a third of the island, show how undisturbed nature can be respected and preserved.
