Störtebeker Festival 2025: Ahoy to spectacular pirate adventures!
The anticipation for the Störtebeker Festival is palpable, as the largest open-air theater in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is opening its doors again. Next June 28, 2025, the season will be ushered in with the new play “Buccaneers of the Seas,” which focuses on the life of the legendary pirate Klaus Störtebeker. The festival will take place until September 13th, and tickets for the premiere on June 28th are already sold out - but the dress rehearsal on June 27th is still available. Tickets and further information are available on the Störtebeker Festival website or via the ticket hotline 03838 31100.
The Störtebeker fairy tale is brought to life on the impressive Ralswiek natural stage, which is one of the largest open-air theaters in Europe. So that visitors can enjoy not just a play, but a spectacle, over 150 actors, 30 horses and 4 ships have come together to offer a first-class theater experience. Special pyro effects and stunts are also on the program, which are intensively rehearsed to guarantee safety. Actor Carsten Faseler will be seen in the dual roles of Secretarius Hugo and the city watchman, among others
Practical tips for visitors
What is the best way to get to the Ralswiek Nature Stage? In terms of transport, you can travel via the Rügen Bridge or by car ferry from Stahlbrode to Glewitz. And be careful: Ralswiek is closed to traffic from 5 p.m. during the game time to ensure visitors have a pleasant journey. Free parking is available, but parking is at your own risk. If you want something a little easier, you can use the shuttle service from parking lot B96 to the nature stage. The “Bimmelbahn” runs every five minutes every day and takes guests to the stage for just 2.50 euros per adult and 1 euro for children aged 5 to 11.
There are special regulations for family small children: children up to 4 years old can sit on their lap for free when accompanied by an adult. Ticket prices range between 20 and 48 euros, with a discount of 10 euros for children up to 15 years and a flat rate of 20 euros for wheelchair users.
A colorful supporting program
During the festival, visitors can expect not only a thrilling piece of theater, but also a diverse supporting program. Walter's falcons present the “Kings of the Skies” during the festival. There are also new merchandise items in the Störtebeker Butik, including exclusive jackets that are guaranteed to make every fan's heart beat faster.
Another highlight will be the new program booklet for “Buyers of the Seas”, which will go to print soon. A podcast will also be published about the impressive experiences and memories of long-time contributors. The stage designs and setups are also creatively implemented by the Störtebeker sawmill.
At the crowning conclusion of the festival season, the last piece is celebrated with a magnificent fireworks display over the Great Jasmunder Bodden. The Störtebeker Festival has a lot to offer not only for pirate fans, but for all theater lovers and promises to be an exciting highlight in the event calendar.
