Stralsund in heat pump fever: municipal utilities support with funding!

The demand for heat pumps in the Stralsund district is increasing rapidly. This trend topic not only affects private households, but also the Stralsund public utilities called into action. Citizens are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of heating systems that use renewable energy. Pier Angermann, a resident from Pantelitz, has installed a heat pump and raves about its reliability and quiet operation. He also saw significant energy savings. These positive experiences create trust in the technology and the municipal utilities want to contribute to this.

The Stralsund public utility company is observing a steadily increasing number of inquiries regarding heat pumps, which is being accompanied by a targeted educational campaign. According to Stefan Schöler from Stadtwerke, many customers thought about the installation for a long time, but there was often a lack of concrete assistance. In order to close this gap, the municipal utilities are cooperating with regional craft businesses who provide interested households with advice and support with installation.

Promotion and support

A central argument for switching to heat pumps is the financial support options. The investment sum for a heat pump is around 30,000 euros, of which up to 16,000 euros can be funded. In addition, Stadtwerke Stralsund also offers support with KfW funding, which covers up to 55 percent of the costs. Depending on the household, the support can be up to 70 percent even for low-income households. These incentives make switching to modern heating technologies particularly attractive.

A master craftsman, Ronny Krohn, who has already installed many heat pumps, notes that many interested citizens lack knowledge and education. He explains that, as a rule, every classic single-family home is suitable for a heat pump, but adjustments to the heating surfaces are often necessary. Installing this technology is also environmentally friendly, increases energy efficiency and helps to significantly reduce CO₂ emissions.

The role of federal funding

In addition to the on-site offerings, there are also government funding programs that support the switch to modern heating technologies. The Federal funding for efficient buildings (BEG) for example, promotes the renovation of buildings to save energy costs. The continuation of the BEG through the turn of the year 2024/2025 has already been secured, so interested homeowners do not have to worry about a long waiting time. Applications can be submitted online in the BAFA portal, and the processing time is transparent.

For owners who want to bring their heating system up to date, this funding mix from municipal utilities and the federal government offers an excellent opportunity to invest in the future - not only for their own wallet, but also for climate protection.

Overall, it can be said that the Stralsund municipal utilities and the regional craft businesses are reacting to the current trend with their initiative and are supporting citizens with knowledge and support. Switching to renewable energy is not only a necessary step into the future, but can also be a financially lucrative business.
