Warnemünder Week 2025 starts: sailing fun and beach concerts!

Warnemünde Week 2025 has started! On July 5, 2025, around 800 sailors and hundreds of thousands of visitors will gather in Warnemünde to experience nine days full of sporting and cultural highlights. This traditional event not only attracts sailing enthusiasts, but also offers a rich program NDR reports.

The start is marked by the popular “Niege Ümgang”, a colorful parade that leads from Seestrasse to the Kurhausgarten. At the same time the first races on the Baltic Sea start. Over 2,000 sailors from around 30 nations take part in competitions in more than ten boat classes. Sports director Peter Ramcke can report high registration numbers, which underlines the great interest in the event.

A colorful program for everyone

In addition to sailing and surfing events, Warnemünde Week also offers numerous cultural activities. For the first time, beach concerts are on the program, with artists like Tocotronic and Hinterlandgang loosening up the event. There are also sports tournaments in the beach arena, music in the Kurhausgarten and dance courses on the lighthouse forecourt. Visitors can experience the competition directly on the beach or become active themselves Ostsee.de reports.

However, the week is not just limited to sporting events: a charming stage program and a shopping mile round off the experience. On July 10th, the offshore regatta “Rund Bornholm” will delight 45 teams.

Olympic ambitions

The prospects for the Olympic sailing competitions, for which Warnemünde is actively applying, are particularly exciting. Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig emphasizes the suitability of the venue and points to the ideal sailing and surfing conditions. No less than a cruise ship could be used as an Olympic village for the athletes Nordkurier reports.

The infrastructure for the regatta course is described as Olympic-ready and the regattas can be experienced directly from the beach. The decision on the final application is expected by autumn 2026. The German Olympic Sports Confederation is examining the concepts, and other cities such as Kiel and Hamburg have also submitted their applications.

A great number of 300 volunteers support the implementation of Warnemünde Week and ensure that everything runs smoothly. With a varied program and Olympic ambitions, this event will once again be an attraction for all sports and music lovers. A visit is definitely worth it!
