Musharbash: We need a fair dialogue about Palestine!
Berlin, Deutschland - On June 11, 2025, Nazi Musharbash, President of the German-Palestinian Society (DPG), addressed the existential crisis of the Palestinian community in Germany in a statement. The DPG, active for almost 40 years, has between 400 and 600 members and does not receive financial support from political parties or the Bundestag. Musharbash condemns Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023 and clearly speaks against violence, terror and war. At the same time, he criticizes the warfare of Israel in the Gaza Strip, which in his opinion leads to an admiration and expulsion of the civilian population. In this context, he emphasizes that the entire Palestinian people should not be held responsible for the actions of Hamas.
Regular pro-Palestinian demonstrations in Berlin are often the focus of critical media reporting. Musharbash finds that peaceful protests are often ignored in public, while violent incidents are overrepresented. He rejects any form of anti-Semitism and realizes that there have been anti-Semitic incidents during pro-Palestinian demos. Nevertheless, he criticizes the fact that legitimate criticism of Israel is increasingly interpreted than Israel -specific anti -Semitism.
call for dialogue and transparency
In a clear appeal, Musharbash demands more space for the Palestinian community in Germany. At the same time, he criticizes the restrictions on demonstrations, such as the ban on Arab slogans. He basically sees the police as a friend and helper, but admits that there can also be misconduct from police officers. Musharbash explains that there is a suspicion of general statements in politics, which makes an open and honest discussion difficult.
An important goal of the DPG is to educate the German population about reality in the Middle East conflict and to promote a dialogue. As part of a newly launched zoom event series, the DPG discusses with various experts on the current political situation and the media presentation of the experiences of the Palestinian community in Germany. Among the guests include Jules El-Khatib and Prof. Dr. Helga Baumgarten, who criticize the one -sided reporting in the German media and indicate the need for a balanced view.
media reporting and trust
Reporting in German media about the conflict in Gaza has strongly influenced both the trust of the population and the perception of objectivity. According to a zapp survey, only 40% of the respondents trust the reporting, while 48% have little or no trust. Communication scientist Carola Richter emphasizes that the perception of taking parties for Israel is high in the media, which is considered unusual. This leads to a fragmentation of the information intake in the population and a loss of trust in traditional media.
An example of the criticized representation in the media is the reporting of the "Bild" newspaper about teachers who spoke out against police evacuation of pro-Palestinian protests. Critics accuse German media of taking over the narrative of the Israeli government unquestionably and thus simplifying the complexity of the conflict. This one -sided reporting could lead to the fact that legitimate concerns and voices of Palestinians are not heard sufficiently.
The DPG under the direction of Nazi Musharbash is committed to ensuring that all voices are heard in the discourse for the Middle East conflict. Your work and monthly discussions should help maintain the dialogue between different cultural and political perspectives and to promote a better understanding of the challenges in connection with the Palestinian civilian population. The next event of the DPG and further discussion rounds are already in the planning and will help to bring light to the current events.
