It is estimated that up to 30 % of car journeys could be relocated to the bike in urban areas. The perception and importance of bicycle traffic are increasing, especially in cities, which present positive examples such as Copenhagen or Amsterdam.

The results of the city cycling have a significant symbolic character for the University of Stuttgart. They underline the strategic goal of promoting a stronger environmental awareness and making it clear how important secure bicycle infrastructures are. The goal for the coming year is to motivate even more cyclists, to enter their kilometers and thus call up to improve the wheel infrastructure.

The versatile advantages of cycling should not be underestimated. It can promote the health of citizens and even help to reduce environmental pollution in the city. With daily use, a commuter who drives two kilometers to work every day could save up to 365 kg of CO2 emissions annually. These arguments support the efforts of the city of Stuttgart to further expand cycling and to change the lifestyle of the citizens.
