Crazy Seahaorses celebrate 25 years of Square Dance with a big festival!

Eggstätt, Deutschland - On June 2, 2025, the Crazy Seahaorses from Eggstätt celebrated their 25th anniversary of the club with a festive dance evening. The event took place in the Hartseehalle and gathered numerous friendly clubs, which underlined the importance of the event. At that time, the association counted 29 members, all of whom share enthusiasm for Square Dance.

Square Dance, a folk dance that has its roots in the USA, is based on traditional dances such as Morris Dance, English Country Dance and Quadrille. The dances are carried out in groups of eight people, consisting of four couples, who start on their “homeplaces”. The dancers perform the 64 different figures, which include between two and 16 steps. Over 70 participants followed the instructions of Caller Stefanie Perzlmaier and Peter Osbild and constantly changed their partners to start with their original partner from the starting position.

celebrations and festive atmosphere

At the anniversary celebration, the dancers wore colorful, long -swinging plates, while the men were dressed in long pants and western shirts. The colorful outfits ensured a festive atmosphere that was reinforced by the fun and conviviality of the event. Hans Schartner, a founding member of the association, emphasized that when dancing is primarily about fun.

The hosts also spoiled the guests with coffee, homemade cakes and drinks. Despite the numerous preparations, the dancers had enough time to enjoy dancing. The event attracted guests from various clubs, including the Salt Castle Diamonds from Salzburg, the Stoke-Boat promador from the Swabian Alb, the Crazy Birds from Bad Wörishofen and the Gäuboden Flowers from Straubing.

Regular activities and group dynamics

The Square Dance dancing regularly takes place in Eggstätt on Monday evening in the gymnasium of the elementary school. These regular meetings offer new interested parties the opportunity to get to know the dance, while long -time members such as Jenny Haag and Angelika Roussou emphasize how important the sociable atmosphere is for the success of the association.

Square Dance, which came to Germany through the American occupation after the Second World War, is now not only widespread in the USA, but also internationally. The dances are very popular worldwide, especially in countries such as Canada, Sweden, Denmark, England, Germany, Czech Republic, Australia and Japan. The boom of modern Square Dance also inspires the dance scene in Europe since the 1990s.

For those interested who want to get an insight into the Square Dance, the association organizes rehearsal evenings, to which everyone is cordially invited. Further information is available on the CRAZY SEHORSES website.
