Tragedy on Lake Barnin: 53-year-old dies after boat accident!
On Ascension Day, May 29, a tragic incident occurred at the Barniner See in Crivitz, in which a 53-year-old man died. The man was traveling in a paddle boat with a 55-year-old companion when the boat capsized in the afternoon for reasons unknown. At around 2.30 p.m., the rescue control center was alerted after an emergency call was entered in which the accident was reported. The rescue measures initiated immediately included the use of emergency services, the police and fire brigade, which quickly hurried to the scene of the accident to provide help.
The rescue of the 53-year-old from the water was successful, but the man could only be recovered lifeless. Despite the tireless attempts at resuscitation of the rescue team, he died on site. At the same time, the fire brigade was alerted again to recover the capsized boat and the paddle. In the course of the investigation, the public prosecutor ordered the securing of boat and accessories to clarify the exact circumstances of the fatal incident. Operations manager Tim Kuhlmann from the fire brigade reported on the rescue of a piece of Leine, which was attached to the boat, while a total of 23 emergency services from the weirs of Barnin and Crivitz as well as support from the drone relay and the water protection police were in use.
alcoholization of the boat guide
During the investigation, it turned out that the 55-year-old boat leader had a breath alcohol value of 1.25 per thousand. This value is significantly above the permissible limits for leading vehicles and could result in considerable legal consequences. The alcohol boundaries for drivers are strictly regulated in Germany: from a value of 0.5 to 1.09 per thousand, fines and points in Flensburg threaten. With a value of 1.1 per thousand, one is considered absolutely driving, which is punishable. In the case of the boat leader, it is now being checked whether alcoholization played a role in the accident. The police have therefore started investigations into the negligent killing for the initial suspicion to clarify the exact circumstances of the incident.
Investigations and mountains of the boat
The paddle boat and the paddle were secured as evidence and are to be subjected to a crime -technical examination. The second man on board, the boat leader, was heard as part of the investigation. The police assume several factors that could have led to the accident. However, the exact course of the events is still unclear and the subject of ongoing investigations.
While the recovery of water tourism is glossed over, the thoughts of the relatives of the deceased and the affected persons are inevitably in the tragedy. The incident, which took place on the wonderful Ascension Day, not only shaken the local community, but also raises important questions regarding safety on waters and dealing with alcohol when using watercraft.
