On Sunday, June 1, 2025, a dangerous incident occurred on Heinrich-Tönjes-Straße in Schortens: a 14-year-old cyclist was touched by an unknown driver in an overtaking maneuver. The car drove too close to the boy and then carved in front of him abruptly. The young person had to brake hard to prevent a collision and fell on the sidewalk.
