On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the German Weather Service (DWD) warns of severe thunderstorms in Bavaria, whereby Munich in particular is affected. The weather conditions are characterized by intensive meteorological activity, which is favored by the supply of subtropical air over the Alps. This instability leads to highly sufficient convection and associated storm situations. Hail grains of up to five centimeters can be expected locally, while there is also the possibility of significantly larger hail -grain of up to ten centimeters.
storm and hurricane gusts with speeds up to 110 km/h, locally even over 130 km/h, can meet the region. The DWD has predicted significant risks for people, infrastructure and nature. The warnings apply from 2 p.m. until midnight on June 5. Sarming rain of up to 30 liters per square meter can be expected in a short time.

Special warnings affect not only Munich, but also numerous counties in Bavaria. Among other things, the districts of Weilheim-Schongau, Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen and Lindau are affected by wind gusts, which were reported as a preliminary information for severe thunderstorms with hurricane gusts. in Wallgau, where hail problems have already occurred, residents had to work with snow shovels to clear roads and land. Despite these challenges, there have so far been no major operations or damage, as reported by the local police headquarters.
outlook for the next few days
The DWD expects the thunderstorms to be deducted to the east in the first half of the night. Due to this weather conditions, a mix of shower -like rainfalls and isolated thunderstorms in southern Bavaria to the Upper Palatinate is predicted on Thursday, June 5. The temperatures will cool down somewhat at 17 to 22 degrees.
For the independent cities and counties in Bavaria, which were warned by the DWD, an updated situation assessment for Wednesday evening at 8:30 p.m. is announced. Until then, however, the weather conditions remain tense, since thunderstorms can also affect other parts of Germany, especially in the southeast, where there are similar conditions.
