Nursing contributions: Pensioners receive repayments by June 2025!

As of July 1, 2023, new regulations for the nursing insurance contribution repayment for pensioners come into force. From this date, staggered contribution rates apply to parents with several children under the age of 25. This regulation not only affects employment, but is also transferred to pensioners, such as MDR reports.

pensioners and pensioners who are insured by law are also insured through their health insurance. The contributions to long -term care insurance are paid directly to the health insurance company by the Deutsche Rentenversicherung (DRV). Since April 2025, a system for collecting the required data has been in use, which the DRV queries at the tax authorities. This happens automatically, and favored pensioners receive a corresponding decision. By June 2025, however, there may be delays in the pensions granted before April 1, 2025.

repayment of the care contributions

For pension recipients whose pensions started before April 2025, the DRV will reimburse the long -term care insurance. The repayment takes place automatically by June 2025 without an application being required. The dimension of this repayment concerns around 600,000 pensioners affected, although the DRV cannot currently submit any specific figures for repayment (as of May 2025). If no decision has been received by autumn 2025, pensioners will be advised to contact the DRV in writing.

The regulation also applies to pensioners insured voluntarily or privately in health insurance who have to transfer their care contributions to the long -term care insurance fund themselves. Particularly important: pensioners who will receive pension for the first time from April 1, 2025 are not affected by the system change. In the event of a pension grant from this date, contribution discounts for parents with at least two children under the age of 25 are automatically taken into account.

General information on reimbursement of contributions

The question of reimbursement of contributions is of central importance. Basically, employees and pensioners who are subject to social security contributions must pay contributions to pension, health, nursing, nursing, unemployment and accident insurance. The minimum insurance period for pension law is five years. People who do not fulfill them have the opportunity to apply for a contribution reimbursement, such as Deutsche Rentenversicherung explained.

An application for reimbursement must be made. Only self -paid contributions are refunded. There is no reimbursement of articles that have already been used for services. People who have not fulfilled for various reasons, for example due to reaching the standard age limit or due to the death of a relative who do not meet the minimum insurance period.

health and long-term care insurance in old age

The options for health insurance in old age are diverse: they include compulsory insurance in statutory health insurance, voluntary memberships and private health insurance. In the case of pension, pensioners continue to pay contributions to the health insurance company that depend on the respective income. Legally and private insured persons must observe different regulations, especially when it comes to long -term care insurance. Members of the statutory health insurance companies pay in social long-term care insurance, while privately health-insured pensioners have to conclude their own insurance contract for care services, such as German> German> Pension insurance describes.

Another important point is the health insurance obligation that applies when applying for the pension. Pensioners who have met the pre -insurance period of at least nine tenths of the second half of their working life in statutory health insurance must usually also voluntarily or compulsory insurance.
