Playboy Germany: Facebook page Surprisingly deleted! Shock for fans!
Dublin, Irland - The Facebook page of Playboy Germany, which counted over 1.9 million followers, is no longer found at the moment. The deactivation of the page by Meta Platforms Inc. raises many questions about Kouneli Media GmbH, the editor of the site, has so far received no answers. According to [rnd.de] (https://www.rnd.de/panorama/playboy-Deutschland-meta-sperrt-facebook- page-cqsaolg5droyjp25fh3j2kq.html) it is unclear whether the page has been closed or even deleted since Monday last week. The publisher could not get a detailed information from META, although a written request to restore the page in Dublin was sent to the social media platform.
The editor -in -chief of Playboy Germany, Florian Boitin, is concerned about the situation and assumes a possible precedent that could not only affect Playboy, but also the freedom of press. Boitin warns that decisions about journalistic content could be left to automated systems. In a search for "Playboy Germany" on Facebook, only the American counterpart is currently being displayed, while the German page is marked with the note "This content is currently not available".
surveys and advice from lawyers
Kouneli Media has already started legal steps after all attempts to obtain information from Meta have failed. According to [horizont.net] (https://www.horizont.net/Medien/gruende-unklar-facebook-schlt-des-de- Playboy-AB-228449), there was contradictory information from the customer support of Meta, which could neither justify the measure. The publisher was recommended to create a new Facebook page, wait or contact the legal department in Dublin. A request from Kouneli Media also remained unanswered.
The situation is tightened by the general discussion about freedom of expression and censorship on social media. While Mark Zuckerberg from Meta is aiming for the course for greater protection of freedom of expression in the USA, critics in Europe see more and more regulations that could institutionalize censorship. The EU Commission decidedly rejects these allegations and emphasizes that the applicable regulations of the Digital Services Act (DSA) clearly refer to harmful content, but not in accordance with the law. The right to freedom of expression is firmly anchored in Germany, in particular in Article 5, and should also be taken into account in cases such as this where the border between advertising and censorship is difficult to pull wdr.de.
The closure of the Facebook page not only causes the fear that numerous content could be censored by important media, but also places the range development of the Playboy in another light. While other media such as "Die Zeit" and "Der Spiegel" lose reach, the Playboy shows increasing values according to the media analysis in 2024, which underlines the position of the magazine in the media landscape.
