Premiere of the climate drama: argument and fun in Pollingen!
On May 29, 2025, the "climate dramed" celebrated "a hot story" in the Kelscheune in Rödersmark. Written and staged by Volker Heymann, the piece connects elements of drama, comedy and Klamauk in order to present the topics of climate change and human weaknesses in a humorous way. The action takes place in a football club home in Pollingen, where four provincial politicians gather to found a new party. The first tensions arise when the protocol leader is determined, while the temperature in the room increases unstoppable during the session. The characters, Helga, Rudi, Karl and Gerd, are embodied by Lil von Essen, Jochen Nötzelmann, Horst Krebs and Daniel Andone.
The association of "Rödermarkfreunde" under the direction of Jacob Garms acts as a cooperation partner and is committed to promoting art and culture in the region. The piece has a term of almost two hours and addresses how personal interest and weaknesses influence the decision -making process. Further performances are planned for June 7th in the Gallus Theater in Frankfurt and on July 13th in the Ober-Röder Dinjer-Hof.
background to Volker Heymann
Volker Heymann, the author and director of the play, has an extensive career as an actor and director. He was involved in the Mannheim National Theater and became known for his comedies such as "Dinner for One - how it all started". His work has been performed in numerous theaters in Germany and gave him recognition in the cultural scene. In 1991 he came to Mannheim and later became a co-founder of the cabaret trio "Mannheimer Kulturknall".
The thematic orientation of "a hot story" is particularly contemporary, since art and cultural institutions are increasingly recognizing the restrictions and challenges of climate change. As part of the “Zero” program of the federal cultural foundation, the goal is to promote ecological sustainability in the cultural scene. A total of 8 million euros will be provided by 2027 to support the development of climate -neutral forms of production and art projects.
collaboration for sustainability
The "Zero" program includes three modules: the "Fund Zero" for project -promoting applications, the "Akademie Zero" for further training measures and the "Network Zero" to promote the exchange of knowledge. These structured approaches should promote sensitive use of resources and reducing greenhouse gases in cultural production.
The rising temperature entertainments in Heymann's play are not only metaphorical, but also reflect on the urgent questions that must currently be treated in social and cultural discourses. The association "Rödermarkfreunde" listed by Jacob Garms and the support of programs such as "Zero" show the commitment of the region for ecological topics within the art and cultural landscape.
