World bike day in Pirmasens: traffic safety and coding in focus!

On Tuesday, June 3, the city of Pirmasens celebrates World Bike Day with a special event organized by the police in cooperation with the ADFC Südwestpfalz. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., an information stand will be set up on the parade ground to inform the population about traffic safety and theft protection for bicycles, e-bikes and e-scooters. Experts from the Central Prevention Department are ready to answer questions and give valuable tips.

A highlight of the event is a traffic quiz in which the visitors can test their knowledge and have the opportunity to win small profits with a wheel of fortune. In addition, the ADFC offers a technical security check for bicycles that ensure that the two -wheelers are safe.

In order to increase the safety of the bicycles, the coding of the two -wheelers is also offered. Coded bicycles are more difficult to sell, which detered potential thieves. The so-called owner identification number (one-code) is engraved on the bicycle frame, stamped or glued on. This code contains, among other things, information about the owner and the origin of the bicycle.

In addition, the visibility of cyclists in road traffic is of the utmost importance. The road traffic registration regulations stipulate a certain basic equipment that should have a roadworthy bike. These include a bright -tinting bell, two functional brakes and adequate lighting, which must be used at dusk and darkness.
