Altmarkkreis Salzwedel: 14 million euros for schools and infrastructure!

There is good news for the coming years in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel! As radiosaw.de reports, the budget was approved, in which a total of around 14 million euros are to be invested. This represents a clear step into the future, especially for important projects that benefit citizens.

Investments are planned in several key areas: The Lessing all-day and community school in Salzwedel will receive new room cells through an expansion, for which three million euros will be available for 2025 alone. A further 2 million euros are planned for the following years. The fire department's technical headquarters in Salzwedel and the training center in Klötze are also being redesigned - 527,000 euros are in the budget for the current year and 7.3 million euros in the years thereafter.

Investing in education and security

In addition, the Jahn-Gymnasium in Salzwedel will benefit from a fire protection concept that will cost a total of 1.8 million euros, with 1 million euros being earmarked in the 2025 budget. The infrastructure also benefits - many civil engineering projects are 100% financed through subsidies. Among other things, one million euros will flow into a section of the K1.117 and 1.6 million euros into the renovation of the Rockenthin Bridge.

A budget of 9.9 million euros was already approved last year, as documented by altmarkkreis-salzwedel.de. These funds will also be used for numerous operational and infrastructural measures, including the construction of a new dormitory and the further modernization of the fire department technical center.

Federal funding for the region

The efforts of the Altmarkkreis are also in line with the latest developments at the federal level. The federal cabinet has introduced a bill to finance infrastructure investments that could also benefit our region. According to [bundesfinanzministerium.de](https://www.bundesfinanzministerium.de/Content/DE/ Presseungen/Finanzpolitik/2025/07/2025-07-02-kabinett-beschliesst-gstellentwuerfe.html), 100 billion euros will be made available from a special federal fund. Attention is paid to areas such as education, transport and digitalization.

This bill gives the states the opportunity to expand their budgetary flexibility, which offers the Altmarkkreis a stronger financial basis for future projects. Responsibility for the use of funds lies with the countries themselves, which enables flexible and targeted investment in the needs of the population.

With these extensive investments, the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel can not only strengthen the school and security infrastructure, but also actively contribute to regional development and quality of life. The approved budget not only secures current projects, but also lays the foundation for positive development in the coming years.
