Three thrilling draws: SG Börde Handball fights tirelessly!
An exciting weekend for SG Börde Handball, which ended last weekend with three draws in the league. The sport of handball is lively and firmly rooted in the region, even if the results did not always bring home the hoped-for victory.
In the men's league, SG Börde competed against TSV Anderten II. The team was longing for a turnaround after suffering two previous defeats. With a strong start, SG Börde quickly moved ahead, at times even leading 7:3 and 11:4. Jan Keuntje, the best thrower of the game, contributed to the 15:14 lead at halftime. The absolute tension was fueled again by Jens Keuntje's seven-meter goal in the last second before half-time. But despite an interim lead of 21:17 in the second period, the lead could not be maintained, which ended in a 29:29. The focus is already on the next game against HSV Warberg/Lelm next Saturday, where the points must be scored in order to continue the catch-up race.
A-youth and women in action
The A-youth of SG Börde Handball were also challenged in their performance against Northeimer HC. In a thrilling game, the youngsters fought back after a challenging first half and a deficit of 12:16. Cedric Gerschler finally equalized the game at 26:26, while Tom Abmeier secured the tie at 30:30 shortly before the end. With 7:1 points, the A-Youth remain at the top of their table and are continuing the positive trend.
Things were no less exciting in the women's league. The match against HSG Plesse-Hardenberg e.V. also ended with a draw of 24:24. After a good start with a 4-1 lead, the players went into a goalless phase of 12 minutes. The halftime lead was still 12:11. Franziska Mewes in goal put in an outstanding performance, while Lilly Folger scored the equalizer. Shortly before the end of the game, the women also had the chance to win, but a potential goal was not counted due to a controversial referee decision. For the next game in Wolfsburg, the goal of minimizing technical errors and bringing home the points has been clearly defined.
