Triple disaster: wave of burglaries shakes Bördekreis!

In the last few days there have been alarming incidents in the Börde region that have brought the police authorities into action. On October 27, 2025, several burglaries were reported, worrying citizens and the police alike.

A first case occurred in Oebisfelde when an unknown perpetrator broke into the apartment of a 51-year-old woman at around 2:44 p.m. However, the intruder realized that he was not going unnoticed and fled. Descriptions of the perpetrator indicate a male perpetrator, aged 30 to 40, around 180 cm tall, with black hair and a well-groomed beard. Interestingly, a car with a presumably Hungarian license plate was observed in front of the front door, which could provide a further clue to the perpetrator. The police are asking witnesses to call 03904/478-0 to clarify the case, because the strangers no longer give you a good feeling.

More break-ins

There was another break-in in Dahlenwarsleben on October 27, 2025, this time in a single-family home. The perpetrator forced his way into the property and stole a high-quality watch and cash in the lower four-digit range. There is also a description of the person here: A man of Eastern European origin, around 30 to 40 years old and around 190 cm tall, was seen.

A burglary that took place in Wolmirstedt between October 25th and 27th, 2025 was unconventional: unknown perpetrators gained access to an empty residential building through a basement window, but no valuables were stolen. This shows that the perpetrators sometimes seem to be more concerned with the possibility of access than with valuable loot.

On October 27th there was a break-in in Wegenstedt between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Here the perpetrator slipped through a tilted window and stole cash in the mid-three-digit range as well as jewelry. Once again, the homeowner was not on site when the crime was carried out, which indicates a worrying increase in burglaries in the absence of the residents.

Police prevention

The police note that 128 burglaries were already registered in 2024, which remained almost constant compared to the previous year. However, an increase in burglaries can be observed in the autumn and winter months. To prevent this, the police advise various burglary protection measures:

  • Türen und Fenster stets sichern, keine gekippten Fenster!
  • Geprüfte, einbruchhemmende Schlösser verwenden.
  • Die Haustür immer abschließen und den Schlüssel nicht stecken lassen.
  • Einen Eindruck von Abwesenheit vermeiden, etwa durch Zeitschaltuhren.
  • Nachbarn um Hilfe bitten und verdächtige Personen oder Fahrzeuge melden.

Reference is also made to the State Criminal Police Office's prevention mobile, which will be offering appointments at various locations in the coming months to provide information about burglary protection.

Traffic accident in Colbitz

Another incident occurred today, October 28, 2025, in Colbitz. At 5:30 a.m., a 37-year-old Audi driver collided with a truck. Due to the collision, the Audi skidded and landed in the ditch. Another vehicle was damaged in the subsequent collision. Fortunately, everyone involved was only slightly injured, but one person had to be taken to the hospital. An investigation was initiated against the driver for negligent bodily harm, without there being any evidence of alcohol or drug consumption.

These incidents show once again that both burglaries and traffic accidents in our region are issues that affect us all. Stay vigilant and protect your home!
