Burglary in Oebisfelde: computers and flags stolen!

Oebisfelde and Oschersleben have made sad headlines in recent days because the police had to deal with several break-ins and even arsons. The security situation has stirred emotions again, and the history of such crimes in Germany is anything but new.

The break-in at a sports hall in Oebisfelde was particularly noticeable. According to the information from Magdeburg clicks Unknown perpetrators broke into the hall on Theodor-Müller-Straße between August 11th and 22nd. The cabinets were damaged and computers as well as several German flags were stolen. The estimated damage is around 560 euros. In this case, the Haldensleben police are asking for information from the public on 03904/478-0.

But it wasn't just the sports hall that was targeted by the burglars. A food truck in Oschersleben was also hit by unknown people. The perpetrators made their way there between August 11th and 12th and stole various food items and an ice cream machine. The damage here amounts to around 330 euros, and here too the perpetrators are unknown. Witnesses are also asked to report to the police.

Arson in Haldensleben

The incident on the night of August 13th particularly attracted a lot of attention. A witness observed four young people (aged 14 to 17) rioting near a paper container. Several objects also burned as a result, including clothing containers and a couch. The Haldensleben fire department was quickly on the scene and extinguished the fires. The teenagers finally admitted that they were responsible for the fire. The total damage is estimated at 4,000 euros and an investigation into causing a fire hazard has been initiated. According to German criminal law, arson crimes carry a high minimum penalty, which can range from one year in prison to ten years if human lives are in danger, such as Wikipedia explained.

Arson is therefore not only a current problem, but also deeply rooted in history. Already in the Middle Ages there were criminal regulations against such acts. Today, thousands of cases of arson are reported in Germany every year, as police crime statistics show.

Traffic accident and its consequences

Aside from the break-ins and fires, a traffic accident in Morsleben made headlines. On August 12th, an 81-year-old driver collided with a cyclist who was driving on Beendorfer Straße. The cyclist sustained serious injuries. The driver is now being investigated for negligent bodily harm. Such incidents highlight the importance of road safety.

Overall, a picture of worries and fears emerges in the local environment. The statistics of homeandsmart shows that burglaries have declined during the pandemic, partly due to effective security measures. Nevertheless, many people feel unsafe - a circumstance that is only reinforced by the recent events in Oebisfelde and Oschersleben.

The police are striving to ensure the safety of citizens and hope for the public's help in solving these incidents. It remains to be hoped that both perpetrators and attempted break-ins can be dealt with effectively.
