Burglary in Oschersleben: Gardening target of thieves at night!

In the early hours of June 14, 2025, residents of Oschersleben were woken up by the shock of a break-in at a local garden center. The police were quickly informed and arrived at the scene quickly. Unfortunately, the perpetrators remained unidentified, but the officers were able to seize a bicycle with a handcart that was loaded with stolen goods. Interestingly, this bicycle was also stolen in Oschersleben in the last few days, as reported by gabot.de.

The investigators from the Börde police have secured traces at the crime scene, which are now being examined for possible suspects. Witnesses who may have observed something suspicious are asked to call 03904 / 4780 or contact the Börde police station in person.

Additional burglaries in the Börde district

The break-in at the nursery is not the only incident that is causing a stir in the region. On the night of June 13th to 14th, an attempt was made to force entry into a branch of a butcher shop in Irxleben, but this failed. In Oebisfelde, however, the perpetrators had better luck and were able to steal cash in the lower three-digit range through forced access. Here too, traces were secured at the crime scene and the police are checking whether there is a connection between these crimes, as magdeburg-klickt.de points out.

The latest crime figures in Germany make it clear that such incidents are not isolated cases. According to Statista, there were around 119,000 residential burglaries in Germany in 2023 alone. The increase after the corona pandemic is particularly noticeable. The risk of burglary was found to be highest in urban areas, with the highest rates in cities such as Bremen and Berlin, while Bavaria had the lowest levels. In 2023, the clearance rate for residential burglaries was only 14.9%, which shows how challenging it is to solve such crimes (statista.com).

Citizens are urged to be vigilant and promptly report information about suspicious activity. Burglary theft not only causes material damage, but also affects the sense of security and privacy of those affected.
