Burglary and fire cause excitement in Haldensleben!

In the early morning of June 20, 2025, shortly after 4 a.m., unknown perpetrators were still creating themselves at a shopping branch in Altenweddingen. They gained access over the front door and stole numerous cigarette boxes from the cash register area. Witnesses reported two dark -clad, masked men who ran across a parking space towards the escape location. The Haldensleben police started a tracking dog, unfortunately these efforts remained without further information on the perpetrator, such as sachsen-anhalt.de reported.

In the same night there was also a violation of the Animal Welfare Act. The police secured a dog in Haldensleben, while against the holder, which is already being determined for animal welfare violations, was proceeded. On June 16, he is said to have kicked and beat his dog on open street in Wolmirstedt. Now the dog's state of health is checked in an animal shelter, while the police are considering further measures in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act.

terrifying fire risk

At another location in Haldensleben, a fire was reported in an empty apartment building at around 8:30 p.m. on June 19, 2025. When the emergency services arrived, the building was already in full fire. Despite rapid intervention by the fire brigade, the house could not be saved and was completely destroyed. The damage incurred amounts to an estimated 130,000 euros. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but ten residents had to be evacuated for a short time, but were able to return after the extinguishing measures were completed. The investigation into the cause of the fire is still in progress and so far no evidence is known how the sachsen-anhalt.de reported.

The number of unreported cases of burglaries and other crimes is difficult to estimate. According to an analysis from various statistics, which also looks at the burglary figures in Germany, the total number of burglaries from 459 daily in 2015 dropped to 149 a day in 2021. This number is partially attributed to the Corona crisis because many people work in the home office. But despite the decline, the original prey remained largely constant, a trend that the current situation in Haldensleben also shows.

burglary in numbers

Here is a little overview of the burglary situation:

  • 2021 54,236 burglaries were recorded nationwide
  • Average damage per break -in rose to 3,100 euros
  • Investigation rate at 19.5 percent, varies depending on the state

Despite the lower numbers, the fear of burglaries in the population is noticeable. Urban regions are particularly affected near the population, with most of the break -ins happens between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. The prey often consists of cash, jewelry and electronics - especially smartphones and laptops are very popular, while TVs are rather unpopular for practical reasons because they are too big to transport them quickly.

The police appealed to the citizens of being vigilant and submitting information on suspicious observations in order to counteract a further increase in such acts. Residents who noticed something suspicious in the early morning are asked to report to the Haldensleben police on 03904/478-0.
