Arrest in Barleben: Police discover stolen goods in allotment garden!
On October 9, 2025, a spectacular police operation occurred in Barleben that attracted the public's attention. Police from the Börde police station arrested a named suspect in his allotment plot, who was wanted on the basis of an open arrest warrant. How Saxony-Anhalt reports, officers searched the garden plot and found a number of illegal items, including fireworks, brass knuckles and four vehicles that had previously been stolen. The evidence found led to the initiation of numerous investigations against the arrested man.
An arrest warrant, as used here, is usually issued by the judge at the request of the public prosecutor in order to place a person in custody and to support an investigation. This usually happens when there is strong suspicion of a crime and relevant reasons for detention that justify taking a person into custody. This was also discussed in a blog post Wehner law firm explained.
Burglary and traffic accident
Parallel to these developments, there was a burglary in Haldensleben, which was probably committed on the night of October 8th to 9th, 2025. Unknown perpetrators slipped into a company vehicle between 3:00 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. after breaking the rear window. A drone and a press for water pipes were stolen; the property damage amounts to around 9,000 euros. The Lower Saxony police have received a tip about a suspected person and the investigation is continuing.
On the same day, a traffic accident in Niederndodeleben caused a stir: an 18-year-old driver of a small van left the road due to excessive speed and crashed into a VW that was being driven by a 44-year-old woman. Both people involved suffered minor injuries and an investigation was initiated against the young driver for endangering road traffic.
Traffic controls and security
The police also carried out speed checks in the Börde district on October 9th between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., part of the ROADPol inspection week. The focus here was also on the use of electronic devices while driving. The officers received support from the riot police and prevention stands to prevent traffic and trick theft were set up in the Elbepark in Irxleben. The results were remarkable: 22 speeding offenses and 28 other administrative offenses were detected.
The general feeling of security of the population is significantly strengthened by such controls and operations, because they show that the police departments are actively taking action against crime and traffic offenses. In a further context on the importance of arrest warrants, it was announced that in a nationwide comparison, a total of 24,640 arrest warrants were advertised in the police information system for Baden-Württemberg in July 2025. These figures illustrate how important police work is and what measures are necessary to ensure the safety of citizens, according to a report Time online emerges.
