New bus stops in Meitzendorf: More security and comfort for everyone!

In the municipality of Meitzendorf there is reason to be happy: the implementation of two new bus stops at the cemetery on the K1167 district road to Jersleben has now been completed. As reports Volksstimme, this project is part of a more extensive plan that extends over three years and took a construction time of three months.

The new stops not only offer better connection to local public transport, but were also supplemented with an approximately 70 meter long bike and footpath and a crossing aid across the street. These measures in particular improve access for pupils and seniors from the “Vogelbreite” residential area to bus lines 629 and 630, which now stop at the new stops.

The background of the project

The initiative for the new stops goes back to a village tour, which took place in spring 2022 with the then mayor Peter Hiller (CDU) and employees of the regulatory office. Suitable locations for bus stops were known. The stops at the cemetery act as the first measure of this project. Mayor Frank Nase (CDU) explained that negotiations with the district administration were necessary for the implementation, since the stops were built on a district road.

The construction range turned out to be more extensive than originally planned. This affected above all the shape of the holding bays, the creation of the crossing aids and the installation of the waiting houses. "We wanted to connect the 'bird width' settlement directly to the local public transport network in order to avoid close residential streets," said Nose.

where is the journey going?

The project has not yet been completed. There are already plans to create stops for the sports field and the community center in the old fire brigade. In addition, the new cycle and footpath is to be connected to the industrial area and the train station. For 2025, 30,000 euros are planned in the budget and another 130,000 euros for the year 2026 to implement the next steps.

The district of Börde, as a task authority for public road passenger transport in Saxony-Anhalt, is also active in these developments. On the website of the Bördebus Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH, interested parties can be found on all information about the line network and timetables in bus traffic. In addition, the local transport plan aims at an attractive design of local public transport in order to further promote mobility within the district.

A future -oriented, user -oriented local transport is also the goal of the [Austrian Local transport plans] (https://mid.sachsen-anhalt.de/infrastructure/verkehr/anfeit/plan-fuer-den--oeffen- person Local traffic-des-Sachsen-Anhalt-2020-2030? This plan provides for the networking of rail and bus as part of an overall system and promotes close cooperation between the counties to ensure economic and demand -right traffic.

The new bus stops are not just a small step for Meitzendorf, but a significant part of a comprehensive plan to improve public transport in the region. This not only increases the mobility of the citizens, but also the quality of life in the community is increased.
