Cycling for climate protection: Börde starts third city cycling round!
In the region there is a lot going on for all those who like to travel on two wheels! The district of Börde will take part in the popular bicycle campaign city cycling from August 25 to September 14, 2025. This is already the third participation of the district in this exciting competition of the climate alliance, which extends over a period of 21 days. Here it says: Place as many everyday paths as possible by bike!
City bikes not only promotes cycling, but also actively contributes to climate protection and improving the quality of life in the municipalities. The development of the number of participants shows how relevant this commitment: 2023 cycled 95 teams with a total of 610 active cyclists and covered impressive 137,496 kilometers. The following year, in 2024, the numbers increased to 141 teams and 1,394 cyclists, which together together. These are really strong services that show that cycling is very popular in the district.
who can participate?
Participation in this great action is open to all people who live in one of the participating municipalities, work, belong to a club or attend a school. In the Börde district, the municipalities of Barleben, Haldensleben, Lower Börde, Oebisfelde-Weferlingen and Wanzleben-Börde have the opportunity to participate. But that's not all: People from non -participating municipalities can also join the open team of the Börde district.

In parallel to these activities, the BUND promotes cycling projects through various programs that have the goal of increasing the quality of life in our cities. As part of the "Climate Protection through cycling" funding program, municipalities can apply for support to implement their cycling projects. What is important here are the submission deadlines and the correct documentation, which are described in detail on the website Klimaschutz.deThe campaign is with great commitment from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Digital Saxony-Anhalt as well as the working group bicycle-friendly municipalities of Saxony-Anhalt e. V. supported. This shows impressively how important bicycle traffic and the associated commitment are for everyone involved.
