Theater magic in Genthin: daycare centers celebrate with puppets and music!

On June 13, 2025, at the Käthe Kollwitz daycare center in Genthin, the daycare children experienced the cheerful piece “Bake, bake cake.” The performance was not only accompanied by music, but also had active participation elements, which invited the young audience members to join in the celebration. Meanwhile, the kindergarten group watched the fairy tale “The Frog Prince,” which was brought to life with elaborate puppets and a detailed backdrop. The atmosphere in the daycare group room was lively and colorful.

A special highlight was the character Snail Meme, who caused a lot of laughs with his funny interludes. After the performance ended, the snail Meme was left in the daycare center as a cuddly toy and now particularly delights the hedgehog group with his company. The Havelländer puppet stage has established itself as an integral part of the daycare center's annual plan, which shows how important and valuable such a cultural offer is for early childhood development. The next appearance has already been decided!

Children's culture for everyone

The importance of theater and music for children is undisputed and is also taken up in other initiatives. The KidsKulturSpass platform offers a wide range of programs for children with music, theater and hands-on activities that can be booked throughout Germany. Whether indoors or outdoors, the offerings can be used flexibly and are aimed at a variety of target groups, from kindergartens to schools to family days.

A particularly extensive program is also offered by WUK KinderKultur. From January 2024, Lino Kleingarn, an experienced theater teacher, will be part of the team. A free art education program for children and young people is being created here, which promotes creative exchange between artists and visitors. The aim is to make art and theater accessible to everyone, regardless of social or economic backgrounds. It is important that children have the opportunity to develop their creative potential and take part in cultural life.

Diversity and inclusion

In order to break down inhibitions, free workshops are offered that not only promote the fun of creating, but also help to address social issues. This type of art education aims to create a supportive community that accommodates everyone interested. Every year there are new formats designed for both children and adults, such as the “When The Kids Are Sleeping” series, which is planned for adults from 2024. The program here includes game evenings, concerts, cabaret and other events that are not only intended to entertain, but also encourage self-reflection.

The events at the Kita Käthe Kollwitz and the initiatives of KidsKulturSpass and WUK KinderKultur impressively show how important it is to create cultural experiences for children. The hope remains that these programs will reach many more children and support them in discovering the world of art and culture.
