Saxony-Anhalt wants you: Large training fair for migrants in Weißenfels!

An important event will take place in Weißenfels on September 9, 2025, aimed at young people with a migrant background. At the Asklepios Training Center for Health Professions, those interested can find out everything about the dual training system in Germany from 3:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event is an essential part of the nationwide training campaign “Saxony-Anhalt wants you”, which aims to bring a total of 1,000 young migrants into training by the end of 2025. Burgenlandkreis reports that the need for skilled workers in technical professions as well as in the health and care sector is urgent.

The event is intended to make it easier for young people between the ages of 15 and 35, who often come to Germany from other countries, to enter the training system. Partners in this campaign are important players such as the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Health and Equality Saxony-Anhalt as well as the Employment Agency and various chambers. They join forces to pave the way to training and to sustainably support integration.

A program full of opportunities

The event program promises a lot: In addition to a welcome and introduction, best practice interviews with trainees will be presented. Participants can receive individual advice at four information stations. Among other things, legal questions, information about training places and opportunities for further training are discussed. Saxony-Anhalt emphasizes that the provision of comprehensive information about training and employment prospects as well as support in acquiring the necessary language skills are highly relevant for migrants.

Another highlight: At the end of the event, each participant receives a certificate of participation signed by Minister Petra Grimm-Benne. Anyone interested should therefore not wait long and register by email, stating their name and nationality.

Background and necessity of integration

In recent years, Germany has experienced a significant shortage of skilled workers, which has far-reaching consequences for the economy. The Federal Agency for Civic Education describes that this shortage is caused by both demographic developments and fewer qualified young people entering the labor market. The corona pandemic has further exacerbated this situation, particularly in the tourism and hospitality sectors.

In order to overcome these challenges, the federal government has taken measures to develop a skilled worker strategy to increase the attractiveness of the German labor market for international skilled workers. An important focus is on the health and nursing professions sectors, which rely on well-trained staff like no other area. In order to promote the integration of successful immigrants, comprehensive support offers are required that also take into account the perspectives and needs of immigrants and companies.

Overall, the upcoming event in Weißenfels shows how important the integration and training of young people with a migrant background is for the future of Germany. Anyone who would like to be part of this process is warmly invited to take part!
