The Bavaria-wide rollout began with an initial introductory event in Augsburg on July 7, 2025, and there is great anticipation for the coming events. The initiators of this innovative platform are the Bavarian State Ministry for Housing, Building and Transport. It lays the foundation for modern, networked administration and enables faster collaboration between municipalities, authorities, planning offices and many other actors. The platform offers a solid foundation for the structured and loss-free exchange of data and processes. In order to actively involve citizens in the planning, events are held throughout Bavaria. The framework of the “Digital Planning Bavaria” program helps to implement new legal and technical requirements and places a clear focus on land use planning, plan approval as well as spatial and regional planning. Construction Minister Christian Bernreiter emphasizes that the challenge lies in making targeted use of the potential of digitalization and better involving citizens.

Network offensive for municipalities

In order to make it easier for municipalities to get started, the “Digital Planning Bavaria” network offensive was launched. Communities gain valuable experience with model projects and network meetings in all administrative districts. The response to the events has been consistently positive, and numerous municipalities have already been appointed as competence partners. For Upper Bavaria, for example, these include cities such as Dachau, Ingolstadt, Munich and Haar. In the other regions there are also many active communities that are working together on the path to future-proof planning. A complete list of competence partners is also available on the website Bayern.de available.

It remains exciting to see how the implementation of the digital platform will progress in the coming months and what positive effects this will have for citizens and the administration.
