Bloody act in Lünen: partner in custody for manslaughter!
A brutal act of blood took place in Lünen late on Saturday evening, August 9th, which cost the life of a 60-year-old man. He was found dead in his partner's apartment around 11:15 p.m. after bleeding to death from severe stab wounds to his leg. An emergency doctor was unable to do anything for the man and the circumstances of his death remain unclear.
The partner, a 49-year-old woman, was arrested on site. She makes contradictory statements about the incident, which significantly complicates the investigation by the Dortmund police and the public prosecutor's office. A judge then issued an arrest warrant for manslaughter. Due to the situation, a murder squad was even set up to shed light on this dark matter. The authorities are working intensively to clarify what happened on the fatal night. [Tixio reports].
Investigations underway
The emergency services found the victim's most serious injuries at the scene, including two deep stab wounds in the leg. The autopsy ultimately confirmed that he bled to death from these injuries. According to Der Westen, both the man and his partner were alone in the apartment at the time of the crime. The unclear situation and the suspects' vague explanations make the situation difficult for the investigators.
The police have already taken initial action because such brutal acts of violence are not everyday occurrences. Violent crimes, even if they only make up less than 4% of crimes recorded by the police in Germany, have a significant impact on the population's sense of security. In recent years, the number of violent crimes has increased, which may have to do with economic insecurities and social pressures. According to Statista, the number of registered violent crimes was around 217,000 in 2024, reaching the highest level since 2007.
Although the police can achieve a clearance rate of over 75% in most violent crime cases, it remains to be seen whether this will also be possible in this particular case. Suspicion of manslaughter hovers over the 49-year-old, who remains in custody until the facts of the case are finally clarified.
