Discover the huge Trojan Horse in Stendal: an adventure for the whole family!

Attention children and families in Saxony-Anhalt! When summer calls, there is a lot to discover in Stendal and Halle. One of the highlights is the impressive Trojan Horse, which not only delights little explorers, but is also a great excursion destination for the whole family.

The largest Trojan horse is in the family and children's park of the Winckelmann Museum in Stendal. This impressive sculpture is made of a sturdy steel construction and clad in cedar wood. With a height of 15.60 meters, a length of 13 meters and a width of 9.50 meters, the horse not only appears gigantic, it also brings interesting aspects of Greek mythology closer. Inside, visitors can climb through the replica of the famous horse and learn more about the Trojan War. From the upper platform, guests also have a fantastic view over the city of Stendal. Visitors had the opportunity to experience the legend of the Trojan Horse up close, stimulating children's imaginations and unfolding exciting stories. The work of art was originally designed for the Troy exhibition in Braunschweig in 2001 and found its way to Stendal in 2003. During the summer holidays on the Peißnitz Island in Halle there is an exciting simulation game called “Yours, mine, ours Halle an Salle!”. This event runs from June 13 to July 19, 2025 and invites children and young people between the ages of 7 and 14 to design and manage their own city. During the five weeks of the simulation game, participants can try out different professions and put their own projects into practice. Here the young creative minds learn how politics and administration work - a real adventure that anyone with a larger team of at least five children can easily tackle. City tours and special action days are also offered, which offers the opportunity to discover Halle from a new side.
