A moving adventure in the Harz Mountains: How friendship moves mountains!

In the picturesque Harz, where stories fly through the air and the scent of herbs floats in the air, there is exciting news from the region. Carsten Kiehne, a passionate collector of legends, fairy tales and anecdotes, has been active with his partner Manuela Petri for over a decade. Together they have published more than thirty books and their extensive collection is a real treasure, and not just for literature lovers. Kiehne also offers guided tours and hikes to bring the diverse stories of the Harz region to life. A special hike along the Paracelsus Harz Clinic in Bad Suderode has just taken place, during which Kiehne's heart beat particularly high.

On March 4, the sky was clear when Kiehne and the hiking group set out. But suddenly Günther appeared, an older man in an electric wheelchair who really wanted to take part in the tour. “Whether he can do it?” Kiehne asked himself, because the three-hour tour was by no means a walk. The steep route to the clinic was a real challenge, especially for someone in a wheelchair. But the group showed a real sense of community and pushed Günther up the steep mountain with their combined strength.

One team, one goal

Despite the difficulties, the group managed to get Günther up the mountain. When he reached the top, he was beaming from ear to ear and described the hike as one of the highlights of his hospital stay. Kiehne also found the whole situation to be one of the highlights of his 14-year career as a storyteller and hiking guide in the Harz Mountains.

However, Kiehne and Petri's commitment goes far beyond these hikes. On their website “Legendary Harz & Reiki in the Harz” the two offer a wealth of activities, including guided hikes and workshops on topics such as magical herbs and the healing power of trees. They have held over 1,500 storytelling events and are also committed to training legend and fairy tale tellers. The events are intended for both individuals and groups and even include overnight accommodation in a holiday apartment.

Reiki in the Harz – A holistic approach

The “Reiki in the Harz” project, which deals with alternative healing methods, is particularly exciting. The integration of Reiki rituals aims to promote self-care and activate the self-healing powers. While Kiehne primarily conveys the beauties of the stories, Petri opens doors to healing methods and meditations up to the level of a teacher. This combination is unique and attracts both nature lovers and people interested in self-discovery.

If you want to experience the magical atmosphere of the Harz Mountains, you will find a lot of information and contact options on Kiehne and Petri's website. The region has a lot to offer, and the couple are ensuring that the fascinating stories and traditional healing practices are not forgotten. For anyone looking for experiences away from everyday life, a visit to the Harz should be highly valued.
