The first excursion will take place from August 8th to 10th in the Altenau region. The participants immerse themselves in over 1,000 years of mining history, explore dumps and learn everything about water management and the fascinating Harz rocks. The Harz is known for its silver deposits, and the excursion will take place at selected geotopes that, thanks to their special features, offer deeper insights into the history of the earth. The next steps in October

For everyone who feels a sense of adventure in October, there is a second excursion to the Treseburg region from October 3rd to 5th. This consists of a mix of car excursions and hikes. Quarries and outcrops are visited, which impressively illustrate the history of the earth. The topics range from marine deposits to the Devil's Wall to Bodetal and the Krockstein marble. A highlight is the limestone quarry near Rübeland, which shows the remains of a former tropical reef.

In addition, a hike through an ancient magma chamber from Treseburg to Thale is offered. An active quarry north of the northern edge of the Harz fault shows impressive overturned Upper Jurassic layers with a dip of about 70° to the south.
