The certificate presentation took place yesterday in a ceremonial setting in the youth workshop in Osterode. Mayor Jens Augat did not miss the opportunity to congratulate the young people and emphasize the importance of this important institution. “The youth workshop is an essential step for the development of young people,” he emphasized at the event.
The joy of the participants' success was shared by Imad Omeirat, the head of the youth workshop. He proudly presented the impressive figures from the last three years: In 2023, six young people took part in the program, which led to them graduating from secondary school. In 2024, the number of participants increased to 14, with five secondary school qualifications. In 2025, the trend continues to be positive, and 20 participants obtained nine secondary school qualifications. This development shows how important the youth workshop is for the individual support of young people.
A strong foundation for the future
The youth workshop aims to create support, self-confidence and perspectives for young people. The measures include testing in various professional fields such as wood, construction, metal or electrical engineering, as well as media education. This takes place in a protected environment that offers participants a safe environment for their professional orientation and personal development.
The facility is sponsored by the city of Osterode am Harz and places great value on social stabilization. Through cooperation with partners from areas such as warehousing/logistics, retail and care, young people also have the opportunity to acquire key qualifications. Particularly important here is preparation for the labor market and obtaining school qualifications for non-students, which is centrally anchored in daily work.
Future projects and commitment
Exciting future projects were also presented as part of the certificate presentation. The youth workshop is planning to purchase a children's railway for events, in which the young people will be actively involved in the construction and operation. In addition, further craft projects and experiential educational offerings are being planned. This commitment not only enables participants to learn practical skills, but also promotes mutual respect and building trust among each other.
The youth workshop in Osterode has established itself as a valuable institution that not only offers young people professional prospects, but also supports them in their social and personal development.
