Climathon 2025: New ways to a sustainable lifestyle in Osterode!

It starts in just under three weeks: the Climathon 2025 in the city of Osterode am Harz is just around the corner! From September 1st to October 12th, everything revolves around the motto “A climate-friendly lifestyle in 42 days”. With this digital participation challenge, the organizers would like to encourage all citizens to take part, regardless of their previous knowledge. In order to make everyday life more climate-friendly, there are small, practical changes to discover and implement. Osterode.de reports that participants can take part in the climathon using the free 2zero app and complete weekly challenges.

The challenges cover various areas of life, including living, nutrition, mobility, consumption, leisure and digital life. This not only aims to save energy and conserve resources, but also to reduce CO₂ emissions. The app also offers gamification elements such as collecting points and rankings without pressure, which significantly increases the fun factor. The challenges are designed to last 42 days and are divided into weekly topics so that fresh ideas can always be provided. 2zero.earth highlights that over 90 municipalities and companies are already showing great interest in participating.

Rewards and participation opportunities

But how can everyone get involved? It's simple: download the 2zero app, select the city of Osterode am Harz and create your personal profile. It is then a matter of collecting climate points that reflect personal CO₂ savings and are incorporated into team or community results. Participants can take part in a wide variety of groups: be it as individuals, in school classes, through club activities, with friends or in companies. In this way, a strong sense of community is fostered and different groups can learn from each other.

The climate points can also be redeemed for sustainable offers and discounts at partner companies. This not only provides an incentive to participate, but also helps to develop new habits and actively promote climate protection.

Extras and playful learning

Another exciting aspect of the climathon is the climate scale, which is humorously designed to playfully illustrate the importance of climate protection. This hands-on activity allows users to stack cans of different weights to visualize the potential of everyday actions. This tool was developed by the Competence Center for Sustainable Consumption and the Federal Environment Agency. BNE Digital explains that the goal is to raise awareness of climate protection and motivate people to take active action.

The climate scale is ideal for various target groups and is ideal for participation activities at information stands and as part of teaching units. And the best part? Anyone can take part: There is a competition with ten sets of climate scale cans to be won, in which participants have to submit a short text about their use of the climate scale.

Anyone who realizes that climate protection is not only important but can also be fun should definitely not miss this opportunity. Let’s take a step towards a climate-friendly future together!
