Cultural adventure in the Harz: Discover the colorful city of Wernigerode!
Today there were some exciting insights into the “colorful city on the Harz”. Wernigerode not only offers beautiful half-timbered houses, but also numerous cultural highlights that are worth discovering. During a recent KulturVision excursion to the new federal states, culture and nature lovers were able to gain a rich impression of this city. Wernigerode's sights
The pulsating heart of the city is the market square, where the historic town hall sits. A real highlight in Wernigerode is the local cuisine. Located on Breite Straße, Café Wien, which was built in the 16th century and is reminiscent of Austrian café houses, offers delicious Sachertorte. For heartier demands, the Altwernigeröder potato house is suitable, where you can enjoy organic meat from the Harzer Roten Höhenvieh - a real shop with regional products.
Not far away, the Orchidea Huong restaurant serves Asian cuisine, which has even made it into the top 40 of the best Asian restaurants in Germany. Whether pan-fried dishes, grilled dishes or hearty potato dishes – Wernigerode has something to offer for every taste in terms of cuisine.
Cultural encounters
The trip from the new federal states also brought the opportunity to come into contact with the diverse culture of the region. An encounter with the contemporary poet Ric van Regel and a visit to the Musée Lyonel Feininger show that the Harz has a lively and rich cultural scene.
Visitors were also able to enjoy the warm atmosphere emanating from the locals. During a summer festival in the village, there were numerous friendly encounters that rounded off the picture of the Harz as an inviting holiday destination.
