New experiences on the Brocken: nature, education and history combined!

The views of the Brocken, the heart of the Harz Mountains, will see exciting changes in the near future. As Land & Forst reports, the Harz district recently acquired around 13,000 square meters of space around the famous Brockenturm building. This building, which houses a restaurant, a hotel and event spaces, forms the core of a new concept that focuses on nature experiences, education and the history of the region.

Various measures are planned to enrich your stay at the Brocken. This includes a new play area for children, modernized sanitary facilities and a small shop that could sell hiking and cycling equipment. This creates a relaxing ambience, but without any major leisure attractions or event parks. The representatives of the Harz Club and the responsible district administrator attach great importance to preserving the longing for peace and authentic nature experiences.

Sustainable development and preservation of nature

The long-term security of the historic Brocken Railway is the focus of planning. The aim is to secure the infrastructure sustainably and combine it with a stable tourism offering. The nature of the Brocken, which attracts many hikers and nature lovers, should not only be preserved, but also made tangible for future generations.

An important part of the mystical mountain is the Brocken Garden, which was founded in 1890 and today has around 1,500 plant species from high mountains worldwide. The Harz National Park informs that the garden primarily protects endangered and rare plants. The Brockengarten is open seasonally from mid-May to mid-October. Guided tours are offered Monday to Friday and are a perfect introduction to the diversity of alpine flora. Access is only possible via hiking routes or the Brockenbahn, which is seamlessly integrated into the concept, which focuses on experiencing nature.

A place of history and encounters

The Brockengarten has an eventful history marked by closures and reconstruction. Since 2017 he has been part of the network “Garden Dreams – Historical Parks in Saxony-Anhalt” and impressively shows how nature and people can come together here. The fascination of the place is complemented by the well-signposted hiking trails in the national park, which enable visitors to experience nature responsibly.

With these developments, the Brocken will not only become a popular destination for hikers, but also a place where education and history can be experienced up close. So if you want to escape the hectic pace of everyday life, you will soon have even more opportunities to enjoy the peace and beauty of nature. All of these plans aim to ensure that the Brocken remains a place where you can experience the authenticity of history and the secrets of nature up close.
