Construction projects and festivals: This is how Möckern will change in 2025!

What's happening in Möckern? A lot has happened in the last few weeks and the community is looking forward to exciting developments for 2025. In her summer interview, Doreen Krüger reports on various construction projects that are currently being planned. The projects include the renovation of the outdoor swimming pool in Ziepel and the expansion of the fire department and the village community center in Büden. Quickly to the point: There is a lot of investment here to improve the quality of life of citizens.

Another big topic is the renovation of the daycare center in Wörmlitz. Diligent work is also being done on the development plan and land use plan for the Stegelitz industrial area. All of this is happening as part of the planned decision on the residential building area concept for the entire city area, which is due in September. It is clear that the future of Möckern is being actively shaped and the citizens can be excited.

Financial aspects and daycare regulations

As you can imagine, financial issues cannot be ignored either. The new version of the daycare usage regulations and the fee regulations are currently being prepared. These issues are high on the agenda of the city council, which will deal with the adjustments in the second half of the year. The city has to react here as costs have increased and the urban share is 70%.

Another important point is the increase in fees, about which no precise information is yet available. The issue of property tax must also be addressed sensitively, especially in relation to municipal daycare centers. A ruling by the BFH has made it clear that these are not sovereign companies, which makes property tax exemption a challenge. Corresponding information comes from the OFD North Rhine-Westphalia, which, among other things, points out the charitable purposes of daycare centers. Here, under certain conditions, tax exemption could be possible, which would definitely reduce the burden on the providers Haufe reports about it.

Upcoming events

A look at the calendar of events increases anticipation. There will be a big celebration in Möckern on October 3, 2025 - at the Festival of German Unity, the traditional broiler festival, where committed citizens will also be honored. In addition, a formation roll call of the Homeland Security Regiment will take place in the castle park on October 1, 2025, with the city taking over the sponsorship. And of course that's not all: an Oktoberfest and a Christmas concert with the police orchestra are also on the program. The Möckern Volunteer Fire Department's Fire Department Ball rounds off the list and makes it clear how important the community is in the city.

Aside from all these activities, Doreen Krüger also revealed her summer vacation habits. This mix of rest, reading and hiking is just the thing to recharge your batteries. This year she moved to Norway and is already planning her next trip to Spain in the fall.
