Series of burglaries shakes Jerichower Land – citizens beware!

A worrying series of burglaries has put the residents of Jerichower Land on alert. There have been several break-ins in the area in recent days, raising concerns for both police and local residents. On November 5th at 10:42 p.m., a woman reported that her house in Nedlitz was ransacked after she returned from vacation. The patio door was broken open and the damage amounted to tens of thousands of euros.

On the same day, at 7 p.m., a patio door was broken into a single-family home in Gerwisch onsiedlungsweg. Here too, the perpetrators ransacked all of the living spaces and stole various items. The 72-year-old owner suffered damage in the low four-digit range. On November 6th at 10:09 a.m. there was another break-in on Woltersdorfer Straße - however, the perpetrators have not yet been identified and the damage caused by theft has not yet been conclusively quantified due to the absence of the owners. In all cases, the criminal police secured traces and began investigations.

The Jerichower Land police station has asked the public for any relevant information. Anyone who has observed something suspicious can contact us by phone at 03921/920-0 or by email at levd.prev-jl(at)polizei.sachsen-anhalt.de. In order to increase security in the region, the police commissioner Primas offers free on-site advice to improve the burglary resistance of houses.

Actively engaging in burglary prevention can help prevent such incidents. In cities like Berlin, for example, successful cooperation is sought between the police and the Schutzgemeinschaft Berlin e.V. in order to promote education and prevention. In three simple steps, homeowners can make a statement and apply for a free safe home plaque that signals that their own four walls are designed to be burglar-resistant. In addition, insurance companies that cooperate with this network could offer discounts for security-conscious homeowners, as berlin.de reports.

Prevention measures are required

The increasing number of burglaries shows once again how important it is to proactively protect yourself against such crimes. Tips on burglary prevention can also be found in numerous guides and from professional service providers who can check and optimize the security elements at home. Especially in the cold season, when many people go on vacation, it is particularly important to secure your own four walls well and to be attentive.

Whether in Cologne or elsewhere, look for ways to make your home burglar-proof before it's too late.
