It's getting festive in the heart of Genthin: On November 29, 2025, the Christmas lights will transform the city center into a magical sea of lights. Mayor Dagmar Turian (independent) officially gave the starting signal. The Advent season is ushered in with a ceremonial switching on of the fairy lights around the town hall - an event that brings the city community together and creates anticipation everywhere.
The highlight of the Christmas lighting is the lighting of the large Christmas tree, which attracts many citizens to celebrate the beginning of this contemplative time together. Preparations are already in full swing and numerous people, clubs and companies have committed themselves to helping organize this special event, which further strengthens the urban community.
Advent market in Genthin
But that's not all: the Christmas market will take place on December 20, 2025 under the motto “Advent at the Town Hall”. The anticipation is palpable, not least thanks to the varied range of handicrafts and culinary delicacies that will make the market square in Genthin a gourmet and stroller's paradise. In addition to the traditional Christmas market, there will be a special event during Advent for the first time with open Christmas courtyards, where singing, crafts and dancing are on the program - a great opportunity to be creative and enjoy the pre-Christmas season in community.
The Christmas market will take place from December 13th to 15th, 2024, meaning preparations for the festivities will soon be in full swing. The opening times are as follows: Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitors can look forward to a wide supporting program that will delight both children and adults. This transforms the market square into a sociable atmosphere that invites you to linger.
