The speed cameras are ticking in Burg today. On June 23, 2025, a mobile radar box will be available on Zerbster Chaussee to monitor road users' speed in a 50 km/h zone at 7:10 p.m. The police in Saxony-Anhalt have set themselves the goal of continuously monitoring road traffic in order to increase traffic safety and avoid accidents. In the last few hours, temporary speed measurements have been announced throughout the city, and drivers should be warned: speeding can cost a lot of money, according to the Road Traffic Act (StVO) and the catalog of fines.
To ensure fairer control, there are tolerance deductions. These are up to 3 km/h at speeds up to 100 km/h and from 100 km/h it is 3 percentage points of the measured speed. These regulations are not only common in Burg, but throughout Germany. Loud ADAC Special tolerance deductions apply for mobile monitoring, which depend on the measuring system. For example, if the speed cameras work with the ProViDa system, speeds of up to 5 km/h to 100 km/h can be deducted.

- 41 – 50 km/h: 400 € (1 Monat Fahrverbot)
- 51 – 60 km/h: 560 € (2 Monate Fahrverbot)
- 61 – 70 km/h: 700 € (3 Monate Fahrverbot)
- Über 70 km/h: 800 € (3 Monate Fahrverbot)
Fines are slightly lower outside of town, but the impact of the penalties can still be significant. Speed checks are a proven way to improve road safety and they often take place in dangerous places such as busy intersections. The different types of speed measurement, from speed cameras to laser measuring devices, help increase safety on the roads.
In addition to the fines, it is advisable to be aware of the speedometer tolerances. Car speedometers are often inaccurate and can vary by up to 10 percent depending on the model. Cell phone navigation systems seem more precise here because they use GPS signals. When committing a speeding violation, it should be kept in mind that foreign fines can also be more expensive, especially in neighboring countries such as Austria or France, where different tolerance regulations apply.
