Right-wing extremist slogans in Gera: Police stop three men with weapons!
An incident in Gera once again shines a bright light on the problem of right-wing extremism in Germany. On Friday evening, July 11, 2025, a tip alerted the police, who found a group of three men on Scherperstrasse who were loudly chanting anti-constitutional slogans. According to reports from Tixio and Press portal The discriminatory cries of “Sieg Heil” and “The national resistance reigns here” were among the shouts.
The three suspects, between the ages of 24 and 30, were then identified by the patrol cars of the Gera State Police Inspectorate and charged with using the license plates of unconstitutional organizations in accordance with Section 86a of the Criminal Code. Particularly alarming was the discovery of two telescopic batons on one of the men, which led to a misdemeanor charge for violating the weapons law.
Increasing right-wing extremist violence
The figures from the Office for the Protection of the Constitution show that such incidents are anything but isolated cases. In 2024, right-wing extremist crimes increased by 47.4%, with a total of 37,835 registered acts. The willingness to use violence in particular is increasing, as the number of right-wing extremist violent acts rose by 11.6% to 1,281. Assault crimes with a xenophobic background have also increased
- Rechtsextremistische Straftaten (2024): 37.835
- Gewalttaten: 1.281 (2023: 1.148)
- Körperverletzungsdelikte mit fremdenfeindlichem Hintergrund: 916 (2023: 874)
These figures show a worrying picture of a growing right-wing extremist movement in Germany that is being countered not only with words but also with actions. It is frightening to see how some people take decisive advantage of social tensions to propagate anti-migrant and anti-Semitic positions.
A social problem
The incident in Gera is not isolated: the right-wing extremist movement in Germany has been attracting more and more people for years. With a potential of around 50,250 right-wing extremists in 2024, an increase of 9,650 compared to the previous year, we have to ask ourselves: Where are our limits? What the future holds is difficult to predict, but one thing is clear: it is up to us to counter these forces and ensure that such incidents are nipped in the bud.
The Gera police investigation is still ongoing and the population needs to be vigilant in order to counter right-wing slogans. Every tip can help prevent such incidents and promote safe coexistence.
