Fawn rescue in Jerichower Land: Drones in action for nature!
In the Ziesar region, where rural idyll and state-of-the-art technology meet, a dedicated association ensures the preservation of the fawns. Founded in 2024Biodiversity Association Fiener Bruch e.V.is committed to the rapid and sustainable rescue of these animals during the critical harvest season. Under the leadership of chairman Robert Fritsch, who is the only drone pilot to have an official pilot's license, we work here with a lot of enthusiasm and voluntary support to give a chance to around 100,000 deer fawns that die every year in Germany while mowing.
This season alone, thanks to the tireless efforts of 20-25 volunteers and the latest drone technology65 fawnsbe saved. The rescue teams move out in the early hours of the morning, usually around 3 or 4 a.m., to support the farmers' mowing work in good time. Close cooperation with farmers is crucial so that they can report their fields in a timely manner, which greatly facilitates the rescue mission. Deer fawns that are located are carefully rescued using odorless gloves and temporarily brought to safety.
Technology and efficiency
The use of the most modern Drones with thermal imaging cameras revolutionizes fawn rescue. These devices not only make the search significantly more effective, but also more efficient. Studies have shown that drones make rescue one and a half times more efficient than traditional search methods. While it takes a person without technical aids over 12 hours to search one hectare of land, a drone can do it in much less time. The financial aspect is also made easier by funding opportunities from the federal government, which has been supporting registered associations in purchasing drones for several years.
The importance of these efforts is undisputed, because every fawn saved not only helps the population, but also the entire ecosystem. The association therefore not only plans short-term rescue operations, but also has long-term goals: to promote a natural, sustainable and diverse landscape in the Fiener Bruch.
With heart and commitment
The association is not only active in the area of fawn rescue. He is also committed to thePreservation and promotion of regional biodiversity, which includes endangered species such as pheasants, partridges and great bustards. The cooperation with various projects, such as great bustard protection and educational work for children and young people in collaboration with the IKTB Ziesar, are further essential components of the association's work.
If anyone is interested in the important tasks of the association or would even like to support them on a voluntary basis, the doors are open. Under the telephone number 0173 9154162 or by email info@artenvariety-fienerbruch.de can be contacted.
In order to jointly expand the possibility of rescuing fawns, there are also campaigns by skyzr and other partners who are looking for volunteer drone pilots to help the endangered animal population together. With the technology in the hands of volunteers, a valuable initiative to secure fawns in Germany and Austria can be continued.
