Criminals loot garages in Burg: six motorcycles stolen!
Yesterday, June 17, 2025, there were several security-related incidents in Burg that are both worrying and typical of the current crime statistics situation. Unknown people broke into a garage complex on Am Holländer Street and stole six motorcycles, including models from MZ, KTM and BMW. The perpetrators obviously targeted high-quality vehicles and broke the lock on the garage. The police are calling on witnesses to provide information. Anyone interested should contact the local police station on 03921/920-0 or by email at levd.prev-jl(at)polizei.sachsen-anhalt.de. In another incident on the same day, a traffic accident occurred between a car and an e-bike rider on Apfelstrasse. The 44-year-old woman fell and suffered minor injuries. After a medical examination, she was taken to the hospital. Whether the accident was caused by speeding is still being investigated. It remains unclear whether the possible traffic situation at this point was the cause of the accident.
Castle in focus
In the late afternoon of June 17, 2025, a missing 83-year-old woman from a retirement home in Burg was also searched for. Her life was in danger due to a lack of orientation and the medication she needed. The police used numerous means: radio patrol cars, a police helicopter and a service dog. All efforts paid off because the lady was finally found at around 8:40 p.m. in Bürgerholz, near the railway facilities, and was handed over to her family after being checked by the emergency services. A happy end to a tense search.
A large number of crimes occur in Germany every day, and crime statistics show that burglaries in particular are a continuous problem. According to notrufExperten.de, residential burglaries increased by an astonishing 181 percent in 2023 compared to the previous year. Especially in urban areas, there is a high risk of unauthorized people breaking into homes during the day. A good knack for securing your own four walls is therefore essential.
The police also carried out speed measurements last week, recording a total of over 700 vehicles on the B107 in Jerichow OT Redekin. During this inspection, more than five speeding violations were identified, with the fastest vehicle being clocked at 89 km/h - with a speed limit of just 70 km/h. Vehicle owners can now expect mail from the Central Fines Office.
The developments of the last few months show that increasing security awareness and preventive measures are necessary to protect yourself from crime. Investing in security technology and burglary-deterrent methods can not only reduce break-ins, but also improve feelings of security in these uncertain times.
