Traffic chaos: drugs, alcohol and misuse of driving licenses in Saxony-Anhalt!

Road safety has been a particular focus in the Jerichower Land region in recent days. A large number of checks and reports of conspicuous road users indicate that there is an urgent need for action. On October 10th and 11th, 2025, there were several notable incidents involving both forgery and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

On October 10th at 2:41 p.m. police officers discovered an Alfa Romeo on Magdeburger Chaussee in Burg. The license plate combination was not assigned, which is why it was seized and a criminal complaint was filed. A short time later, around 10:50 p.m., a 43-year-old VW driver was checked in Genthin. Not only was he driving without a valid driver's license, but he also had a positive drug test for amphetamine and THC. The police then initiated criminal and administrative offense proceedings.

Drunk driving

Another serious example occurred on the night of October 11th. A 20-year-old driver of a Suzuki was stopped at around 12:09 a.m. in Möser OT Schermen because of his suspicious driving style. With a breath alcohol level of 1.18 per mille, his driver's license was confiscated and criminal proceedings were initiated. Just a few hours later, at 11:31 a.m., the police found a 46-year-old driver in a gas station in Burg who was driving with a blood alcohol level of 2.54 up to a peak of 2.86. Here too, the driver's license was seized and criminal proceedings were initiated.

Improper driving and drug use

As if that wasn't enough, the police also stopped a 16-year-old driver in Burg on October 11th. He was driving an Opel and had ignored the police stop signs. During his check it turned out that he also did not have a valid driver's license. The police handed the vehicle over to the driver's parents.

In the early morning of October 12th, the officers in Biederitz OT Heyrothsberge became aware of a 23-year-old Kia driver who smelled strongly of cannabis. As it turns out, this wasn't his first drug-related driving incident. He refused to participate in the inspection, which resulted in a blood sample being taken.

The repeated violations not only highlight the dangers in road traffic, but also raise the question of how better prevention can be done in the future. According to that ADAC The withdrawal of driving licenses for road traffic offenses cannot occur automatically after the deadline has expired, but must be carried out specifically by the local authorities. Offenses such as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs can lead to the suspension of your driving license, and the duration of the suspension periods can be up to five years.

An interesting perspective also opens up in the case of document forgery. A case was recently reported in which a driver was caught with a fake Italian driving license for which he had paid 1,600 euros without taking a test. Although he was acquitted of the charge of forging documents, he received a fine for negligent driving without a license, for which he ultimately had to pay 3,200 euros. This distinction between negligence and intent is crucial as to how strafrechtsiegen.de illuminated.

The current events in Jerichower Land clearly show that a keen eye is required for road safety. Only through consistent controls and cooperation between authorities can the risk in road traffic be sustainably reduced.
