Logistics industry in Saxony-Anhalt: Wages will rise significantly from December!

A significant step for the logistics industry in Saxony-Anhalt: From December 1, 2023, employees can look forward to higher wages. The central innovations were agreed in a collective agreement between the Verdi union and the employers' associations after lengthy negotiations. These increases totaling 10 percent until June 2027 should not only provide more financial relief, but also serve as an incentive to retain skilled workers in the industry.

As early as December, wages will rise by 3.7 percent. A further increase of 3.4 percent will then follow in September 2024, followed by a final adjustment of 2.1 percent in June 2027. In addition, the annual special payments, such as the Christmas bonus, will each be increased by 100 euros in 2026 and 2027. MDR reports that the logistics industry includes not only transport and warehousing services, but also the activities of drivers, warehouse staff and merchants. According to estimates, around 80,000 employees in Saxony-Anhalt work in this area, which is considered particularly important for the economy.

Economic prospects

The employers' association LVSA is satisfied with the result achieved. It is hoped that the wage increases will have a positive economic effect, as employees will have more money at their disposal and can therefore consume more, even in low-income regions. Ultimately, this should help stabilize income development in the industry and strengthen the purchasing power of employees. [n-tv].

The increase in training allowances and the introduction of a fourth year of training are further praiseworthy points of the new collective agreement. This shows that the industry is investing in the future and also wants to promote new talent. The term of the new collective agreement extends until July 31, 2027 and provides for regular wage adjustments. Halle Spektrum reports a balanced and future-oriented result that will certainly be of great value not only for the employees, but also for the companies in Saxony-Anhalt.

These positive developments in the logistics industry show that negotiations between employees and employers can be quite fruitful. The good hand that both sides demonstrated during the talks could be the key to a more stable and competitive future for logistics in Saxony-Anhalt.
